The transition to a low carbon world will be inevitable as fossil energy extraction is reduced by influences such as access to resources, negative on-costs such as carbon taxation and/or social and political change.
This change will dramatically transform the global economy. It will not only change our industrial landscape and supply chains, but more importantly it will change the way we all live, travel and work. The transition will be gradual and will require energy extraction from a number of sources including oil and gas as well as other fossil fuels (such as coal) for the medium term, but will ultimately include renewables in the energy mix.
